Of course, explosives also have to be ignited, hence the fuse. Except when they get really old and unpredictable. I remember when I was a kid and I learned that old fashioned dynamite can just go off when it gets old, or overheated, or wet, or you look at it funny. I did not envy 1800's prospectors.
