In case you're wondering how the tables had turned so quickly, Draconis and Lyric are pretty evenly matched. In the beginning, Lyric had an advantage because Draconis didn't know about her skills or abilities, while she had been watching Draconis for awhile now. Saber's arrival was enough to tip the scales in Draconis's favor.
