Full Moon Art Challenge 2022 – December

This is it, the last full moon of 2023, December’s cold moon.

A painting of the full moon, surrounded by snow and icicles.

I’ve said this about other moon paintings already, but this final piece might be my favorite. There’s something wonderfully simplistic about the cold moon, both the concept and the way the painting turned out.

I’m posting this on Tuesday, while the actual Cold Moon rises tomorrow on Wednesday. By the rules of the Full Moon Art Challenge, moon art can be posted the day before, the day, of, or the day after each full moon. I decided to share this one on the first day of the challenge because I’d like to post more thoughts about this event once the challenge is totally complete. This follow-up will include the prompts for next year’s challenge (yes, I’m definitely doing this again next year.)

(If you’re a fan of moon art, don’t forget that the 2023 Lunar Calendar is still for sale in my shop. It can help you track or participate in next year’s challenge, or it could just be for fun. There’s still time to order before the holidays.)

Finally, here’s my complete painting sheet. Participant’s don’t have to put all their works together, but the results are pretty nice.
