A Cold Night for a Mourning Moon
November’s moon is a sad one, folks. But death is a part of life, especially when you draw from seasonal names that originated in the middle ages.

And here’s the movie version with hauntingly beautiful sound:
Usually, for these little animations, I just use the free Apple Sound Library or stock sound effects. (Liz composes something original for the big ones). But I found this rain and ambience mix on Pixabay, and it’s so perfect, I had to give a shoutout to composer Samuel Francis Johnson. Check out his page of your soundtrack needs.

Moon Merch
In other moon news, I have a new Lunar Calendar for sale in my Etsy Shop. What’s more, I’m holding a Full Moon Sale. Use the promo code MOURNINGMOON to receive 15% off moon merch. This offer only lasts while the moon is brightest – November 26th, 27th, and 28th.

And finally, December Awaits Us
The last moon of 2023, the Oak Moon, rises on December 26th, which means the final days of the Full Moon Art Challenge fall on Christmas Day and the two days that follow. If you’re trying to complete all 13 moons, I suggest you start your December piece early. I’ve been told that those last few weeks can get pretty busy.
