This month’s round of the Full Moon Art Challenge runs June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, with the actual full moon rising on June 3rd.

The Rose Moon Will Blossom

The Celtic Name of June’s Moon is the Rose Moon. Here’s a little animation of Roses blooming in the moonlight:

And here’s the still version:

As you may remember, In North America, June’s moon is known as the “Strawberry Moon.” Giving the same month’s moon to both roses and strawberries seems kind of sweet. Might make a great theme for a date …or it would have if I hadn’t just told you about it only a day before the full moon rises and you have pretty much no time to plan anything. Well, maybe next year, right?

Social Media

If you’re a social media kind of person, find the Full Moon Art Challenge on on TwitterMastodon, and Instagram. I’ve been using these platforms to share and like other artists’ moon art and to announce each of the four quarter moons, which is a service many people find charming.

See You in Another Cycle

Next month’s moon is the Mead Moon and it rises on July 3rd.
