Each month’s full moon has different names and symbols. We’re going to use moon symbols as drawing prompts in a year-round art challenge where we make one work of art for each full moon.

The 2025 Lunar Calendar is in the shop!
2024 Review!
How did you do in 2024? How many artworks you finished determines your ranking:
0 Artworks – You’re a New Moon!
You don’t have any light yet, but your next phase can start anytime.
1 to 4 Artworks – You’re a Crescent Moon!
Even a little brightness is welcome on the darkest nights.
5 to 7 Artworks – You’re a Quarter Moon!
Your light isn’t half empty, it’s half full.
8 to 11 Artworks – You’re a Gibbous Moon
A luminous beacon in the open sky.
All 12 Artworks – You’re a Full Moon!
All phases completed! Your light has reached its brightest zenith.

Notes:
Do I need to register or be invited?
-Nope. Just start drawing.
Does the moon itself have to be in my picture?
-Only if you want it there.
Can I use other moon names that aren’t on the list?
-No. The prompt list changes each year. If you use another name, you might be using up a future year’s prompt.
What medium can I use?
-Anything you want.
When can a make my moon art?
-Start your next piece anytime after the previous full moon has passed. You don’t have to spend all 28 days on a piece, but you’ll have about 28 days to make each one.
I didn’t discover this event until it was half-over. Can I still join in?
-I don’t see why not.
