Full Moon Art Challenge 2023 – May

That’s no moon …wait, yes it is. This month’s round of the Full Moon Art Challenge runs May 4th, 5th, and 6th. Just one more reason to think about space this week.

The Bright Moon is Shining

May’s Old Celtic moon name is the Bright Moon. To show off the light of that sparkling orb, this month’s animation features moonlight on the water.

A full moon shines of a rolling sea, reflecting sparkles on the water.

I used a number of animation tricks to make this one extra fluid. Sometimes, the simplest things need the most care.

Here’s the not-animated image for those of you who like to study the details:

Online Presence

If you are having trouble keeping track of the moon phases, don’t forget to follow the Full Moon Art Challenge on on TwitterMastodon, and/or Instagram. Not only do I like and share your moon art from these accounts, I also post reminders for each of the four-quarter phases. If you’re making you own moon art, tracking your days could become a lot simpler.

Until Next Time…

Next month’s moon will be the Rose Moon, which appears on June 3rd. Don’t miss it.
