It’s time, once again, for another month’s contribution to the Full Moon Art Challenge. September’s full moon is the Full Corn Moon (sometimes simply called the Corn Moon.)
Some people mistakenly believe that September’s moon is always called the Harvest Moon. In truth, the Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox. This means September usually hosts the Harvest Moon, but if September’s full moon comes too early October’s moon takes the Harvest Moon title. Since either September and October can take the harvest name, they get their own monthly names as well.
This year, September’s moon is the closest to the equinox, so this month’s full moon is both the Full Corn Moon and the Harvest Moon.
Here’s the whole sheet.
See you again in October for the Hunter’s Moon.
