It’s 24 Hour Comic Day 2024! This year, I’m doing a comic adaptation of the classic folktale, the Story of Chanticleer.

About the Story
Chanticleer was a medieval folktale character, whose stories were popular in France and England. Perhaps the most famous Chanticleer story, “Chanticleer and the Fox,” was even retold by Geoffrey Chaucer in his famous Canterbury Tales.
In 1910, French Playwright Edmond Rostand wrote a four act Play about Chanticleer. The story explored Chanticleer’s connection to the sun. (It also included a good bit of contemporary social commentary that won’t be explored in this comic version.) The play was adapted into a novel by Florence Yates Hann in 1913.
More recently, in 2012, author Templeton Moss combined the two most famous Chanticleer tales; “Chanticleer and the Fox,” and “Chanticleer and the Sun” into a single coherent story. He has generously allowed me to borrow from this story structure to craft my own version. You can find a nice catalogue Templeton’s works Here
